Actress Kirstie Alley sparked a heated debate on Twitter this month when she publicly criticized President Barack Obama for continuing his vacation while thousands of Americans suffered from flooding in Louisiana.
“On a golf course in Martha’s Vineyard instead of in Louisiana?” Alley tweeted, along with a video of Obama, criticizing former President George W. Bush for Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
Alley was not the only one to notice Obama’s hypocrisy, but her comment caught a lot of attention on social media.
Of course, Obama later followed up on the matter and said that he would give the state a visit—only after his vacation ended.
It should be noted that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was among the first to visit the state. He also pushed Obama to make an appearance and at least pretend like he cares about the American people who have been left without homes.
Both Trump and Alley have been forced to fight off Obama defenders, who argued that the state governor encouraged the delayed visit.
