According to reports, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals just appeased President Barack Obama in the most disgusting way, making the controversial decision to strike down North Carolina’s 2013 voter ID law.
“We can only conclude that the North Carolina General Assembly enacted the challenged provisions of the law with discriminatory intent,” Judge Diana Gribbon Motz wrote for the majority this week.
The law initially required people who showed up to vote to show an acceptable form of photo identification, like a driver’s license, a passport or a military ID. The measure also struck down same day voter registration.
When the law first passed, the U.S. Justice Department, the North Carolina NAACP chapter and several voters filed a lawsuit after the law was passed, saying it discriminated against poor and minority voters in violation of the U.S. Voting Right Acts.
Liberals have been against this law from the beginning—probably because it makes it more difficult for illegal immigrants (who are sure to vote Democrat) to cast a ballot.
