Just one day after a devastating shooting in Orlando left 49 people dead, the University of Toronto was placed on lockdown following reports that an armed man wearing mask was spotted near campus.
According to reports, police responded to calls mid-morning. A suspicious person with his or her head was walking around campus, callers claimed.
“In light of this weekend, we will treat it at its highest priority,” Victor Kwong, a media relations officer for the Toronto Police Service told reporters. “We dispatched ATF, emergency task force, we dispatched our canine and our local division.”
Authorities reportedly evacuated buildings and placed others on a “hold and secure” status, meaning people weren’t allowed to enter or leave the build.
Watch the report below and tell us what you think. Do incidents like these need to be stopped?
